"Yes I am! What's next?"
Why should I be baptized?
This is a big step to living your life for Jesus. Baptism is a symbol of all your wrong (sin) being washed away as you walk into new life with Jesus. In the book of Acts, all those who followed Jesus were baptized. If you are ready to take your next step as a Christ follower, this is for you. Baptism is also a symbol of freedom from your past life. If you are ready for new life in Christ, you are ready to be baptized.
How does baptism work at Life Church?
Water is used to show the symbol of washing away all your wrongs. This is why when you are baptized you are immersed in water similar to a small pool.
When you are ready to be baptized after 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 am. service, you may follow Clarissa Buckley to the in the Dream Team Room.
You will be seated in a small pool of water at Life Church directly behind the main stage where a minister will baptize you.
Once you are baptized, we encourage you to lift your hands to show you trust Jesus with your life.
You may also feel like praying to Jesus after you are baptized saying words like... "Thank you Jesus for new life." "I am committing my life to you."
Imagine talking to your best friend who just gave you a wonderful present. Jesus has given you a wonderful present of new life -- do not be scared to lift your hands and thank Him with your words.
Once you are baptized, you are able to change into dry clothes. We will be ready to celebrate with you!
Yes people in the church may be watching you be baptized which can feel scary. They are not there to only watch you but celebrate with you. They are excited for your next step and want to be there to support you. It's like when your friends watch you open your presents at your birthday party - they can't wait to celebrate with you!
How should I prepare?
You will be provided with a towel, t-shirt, and shorts for baptism. If you are not comfortable wearing a t-shirt and shorts, a robe is provided for you. There is no need to wear a bathing suit.
Bring a change of clothes with you just in case.
You are welcome to change into baptism clothes either in the changing room or the restroom.
We encourage you to spend time in prayer the night before to share how you are thankful for this next step to have new life in Christ.
